Why have I not heard of this? Who is to Blame!

Wow. Found out about a Space Hulk Card game this morning from a fellow blogger, followed the link to Fantasy Flight Games, and learned about an upcoming roleplaying game called DeathWatch. This is awesome, because my favorite character from Inquisitor was Battle Brother Artemis, who was captain of an Ordo Xenos Kill team (at the time, the heretofore unheard of Deathwatch). Now, everyone's favorite Raider Chapter (their colors are black and silver, and have skull and crossbones) has its own game devoted to it.
In the upcoming game, if I read the development log correctly, players have an opportunity to develop characters in more than just combat missions. This is relatively new for players of Space Marines, who are typically very powerful beings that only make appearances in wargames or as brief guest stars in ordinary human centered games. This sidesteps the "munchkin" aspect of playing Space marines by making all players equally awesome, and simultaneously putting the characters into situations where exhibiting battle prowess is not always the right course of action.
But, as with all games which revolve around the Space Marines, I am sure you are going to get a chance to do some smiting. Especially if any of the beautiful art from the previews is any kind of guide...
