Crimson Fists: Building A List Around Pedro!

This is how Pedro Kantor, Master of the Crimson Fists, appears in his current incarnation. Definitely more formidable in his art, but I think there are pluses and minuses that can be discussed between his editions. I like the addition of Dorn's Arrow, that manly stormbolter of manliness, but I must say I don't really care for the back banner. Also, I sort of prefer the Mark VI 'Corvus' helm to the Mark VII this version is wearing. Life will go on, I suppose.

But now the question must be asked. What is the preferred method for making a Pedro list these days? I have the list that I made via necessity some time ago based on what I could make my miniatures count as, but what would you put in if you had your choices. I like low points, but to make it more sporting and include a few more goodies, let's give the option of making the list up to 1500.

What I'll probably do is start a poll for the next week based on what ideas we get, as to what best represents the Crimson Fists.

I get wehre you're coming from with regards to the Pedro's Helmet. Personally I like it, but luckily his head is seperate so you can swap a Beaky in if you like ;)

I've been tooling around with some ideas for a Pedro list myself actually. Working on the idea it represents the Rynn's World veterans who fought with him, I'm looking at 2-3 squads of Sternguard (Scoring!), 3, maybe 4 squads of Scouts filling the Troops slots (possibly with Telion), at least 1 squad of JP Vanguards, and then I was thinking maybe a Master of the Forge with Conversion Beamer and Dreads for Heavy Support.
If nothing else, once finished it should look pretty distinctive....

Oh sweet! I didn't know his head was a separate piece! That definitely makes my future conversion of him a lot less complicated.

At 1500 you should run sternguard, and either use Pedro with them to boost their CC, or as a force multiplier with a squad of Honour Guard at larger games. Vanguards are fluffy, but they suck unless you fill the table with beacons. The troops should be scouts (snipers, preferably). A dread should take the 3rd elites slot.

A Master of the Forge with BeamerBike joining a scoutbike squad should be nice, since with unlocks even more dreads.

I'll be in the corner painting...

I tooled around with a Death Spectres list a while back using Pedro in command:

Are you going with traditional Space Marine/40k models?

@ Gyro:

Honestly, I'm not sure I'll do anything more with the Crimson Fists theme than I have already, since that is what my "Spartan Marines" are ostensibly counting as.

If I do more with them in the future, I probably will use vanillas, yes.

Forge World has been putting out some sweet looking classic power armors that would work well as Sternguard if you're so inclined.
