Great Games I Never Played: Battlefield Evolution

We all have them, great wargames, tabletop games, or RPGs that we bought, read, experimented with, but never played. Some of them seem good. Some may even be terrific, but you either never got around to really learning it, or never found other players, or maybe never finished assembly (this is probably my number one failing). In this ongoing series, we will examine a few of mine.
Battlefield Evolution was an excellent tabletop modern combat game from Mongoose. It has interesting mechanics, factions that are different enough to be interesting enough yet work enough on the same mechanics to all be playable, and could be played in a short amount of time. It was plagued with poor availability of the models, high prices for poorly pre-painted sets, and came around at a time when people were trying to escape reality, rather than mimic it.

Curiously enough, for those interested in this cool flop of a game, Mongoose has it in the Out Of Print Clearance Sale.

Note: This is a guest post by KE554, since Counterfett is currently out of commission with nerve damage. Stay tuned folks.
