Great Games I Never Played: Wraith Recon

Well, at least this one is about to change.
Wraith Recon was a great campaign setting for D&D 4e that was put out by Mongoose some years back. It involved, as the title somewhat suggests, stealthy special forces type operations in a more typical fantasy world. It's sort of an interesting dichotomy of modern military technology replaced by enchanted medieval weaponry.

In any event, I have had the campaign setting book for some time, and recently picked up the two supplements from Mongoose's OOP Sale for a bargain. Since my gaming group was in the process of wrapping up its last campaign setting, I brought this one up. It looks like we might be a go at our next meeting, so hopefully I will take this one off of the Never Played List.

Of course, since we are playing Swords & Wizardry, there will be a little converting to be done to make it playable, but the great thing about moving from a system that is more complex to one that is less is that converting things is a snap. Level 15 Warlord? He's a level 15 fighting man. Level 12 Ranger? He's a level 12 fighting man. See the trend? Easy. This is perhaps an oversimplification of what I have to do, but not by much.

Note: This is a guest post by KE554, since Counterfett is currently out of commission with nerve damage. Stay tuned folks.
