Pre Order Critique: Dust Tactics Heavy Walkers

My long time readers already know that I am a major fan of the Fantasy Flight Games Dust Tactics series. The info about this release has been out for a while now, but I just recently discovered and got to it. Each heavy walker comes with the equipment to be outfitted as one of two different walkers, each with a different role.
The Axis walker looks a bit like a dwarf spider from the clone wars, but on steroids. As is typical, the two permutations seem to be an over the top tank killer, and an AA turned infantry killer.
The low and cumbersome Allied walkers fit the theme that Allied tech is not quite as elegant as the Axis. These also work on the pre-established combo of devastating flamethrower and all-'rounder that Allied walkers typically conform to. This one pleasantly reminds me of the Battletech 'Scorpion' mech, but with an extra leg in the middle of each side.

The thing to keep in mind about this stuff is that it scales very nicely with everyone else's favorite 28mm games, the models come pre-assembled and pre-primed, and they are very reasonably priced. My one only complaint stems from the fact that the poses themselves are actually quite un-varied, but this has to be taken with a grain of salt, as these are actually designed to be a board game playing piece, rather than scale miniatures. That they work as scale miniatures can only be seen as a bonus.

Note: This is a guest post by KE554, since Counterfett is currently out of commission with nerve damage. Stay tuned folks.
