Picking A Faction Part II. The Total Noob's Guide To The North

Following up from a few days ago, I figured I would start trying to decide what faction I want to play as in my trek to Heavy Gear happiness. And guess who gets to come along with me on the road to insanity? That's right, you do!
The World of Heavy Gear, Terra Nova, is basically split into two halves, the North Pole and the South Pole. These are ruled by two factions which are, in turn, made up of several smaller playable factions. The first of these factions which we shall cover today, is on the Northern half of Terra Nova, and is cleverly referred to as the 'Northern' faction. There is a longer name, but basically this faction is the Northern Guard, and variations thereof.

The North, in general, is the more egalitarian of the two main factions, with the constituent nations having banded together more or less by choice. They have a good variety of Gears to use, as they were, in fact, the original creators of the technology. The constituent sub-factions use very much the same forces as the Northern Guard, but have different costs, and slots that said forces can use. Essentially, the way I keep it straight is that the sub-factions are like an HQ choice in Warhammer 40k, where it changes your Force Organization chart.
One sub-faction I like in particular is the 'Crazy Eights' a Para Regiment which has special gears only available to them such as the Koala and Dingo. They look cool and have the ability to make all of their units 'Airdroppable.' I hate that terminology, but basically they are all paratroopers, since they are all from a Para Regiment. Makes sense so far.

Note: This is a guest post by KE554, since Counterfett is currently out of commission with nerve damage. Stay tuned folks.
