Pre Order Critique: Necron Deathmark / Immortal

At long last the Necron Advance Order Page is up. I was planning on doing this right when it broke, but they waitid so long, and then when they finally did break it, it was a bad time for me in the posting schedule, so I did not feel bad penalizing them a couple days.

In any event, there are a few interesting forthcoming releases for the terminator mummies, um, Necron. The first we are going to take a look at is the Deathmark/ Immortals two pack. As expected from the title and the pattern of the multi-option boxes from the past two releases, this set can be used to build five figures in multiple ways. Or, if you are so inclined, some mix of custom units (I might do this).

Up first is the Deathmarks. These actually look pretty cool. Sort of a 'Splinter Cell meets The Terminator meets The Mummy' kind of vibe. They look like they are built almost entirely around the very heavy rifle they wield, and that they are very good at making their targets go splat. I give this one 4 mummified ribs out of 5.
Immortals. I will confess to not liking the last iteration of the immortal model, and they were metals, and very overpriced to boot. These look very much the same to me. Still don't like it. They look less beefy, which is probably a bad thing since the fluff says they wear heavier armor than typical Necron, though they look mostly the same now, except for the over under gauss. Only a 2 out of 5 for me on this one.

Hopefully the rules make Deathmarks a viable unit choice, because they look MUCH cooler than the retooled Immortals.
