Sci-Rifle Countdown Part 7!

Well folks, it seems you caught me. I didn't post anything yesterday. Apparently I need to take a day off from work in order to be really busy. So what I am going to do today is post two entries in the countdown, one in the morning and one in the evening. And since we are nearing the end of the run, they should both be pretty good.

#7: Space Marine Bolt Gun

In the grim dark future, there is only war, and a hell of a lot of it seems to get sorted out with Bolt Guns. Bolters, as they are also called, are large, blocky, hand fired weapons which propel small rockets designed to penetrate a target, then detonate within.  Though versions exist design to be fired by most humans, the Bolter is in most minds, associated with the mighty Adeptus Astartes...the Space Marines.

It's hard to imagine Warhammer 40k without bolters, as Space Marines and the weapons themselves are so ubiquitous in the game and the sci-fi subculture itself. The weapon's only failing is one of concept; in Game's Workshops ongoing fetish to make everything associated with the Astartes the ne plus ultra in sci-fi, they go over the top in making the bolt gun too...super.
