Mecha Countdown #28

Hey all, Counterfett here. Since it's the start of the work week, looks like we'll be heading into the hardcore scheduled posts! As you read this, I am probably in traffic, or beating that, wrapping myself in a manga induced stupor. That said, hope your favorite day of the week has gone of without a hitch for you so far. Thus far into this endeavor, we've tackled mecha hailing from anime and video games, and while those are primo sources for the topic, one cannot overlook cinema. Today we will be examining one such gem, and this is a two-time countdown winner, having appeared in our Killer Robot countdown last year.

#28: ED-209

"You have 15 seconds to comply!" Man, in the late '80s, I must have heard that line 7 times a day around school. Ed-209 was one of those instant classics, and you just couldn't escape his influence. Why would you want to, really?

Honestly, this is the kind of policing that Detroit really needs these days. Quad heavy machine guns on each arm? You betcha. How was he supposed to make arrests? Did they ever explain that? Brother's got no hands? He was a champ at subduing armed assailants, but not so hot with stairs.

That growl of a voice carried the message.

If Ed-209 told me to put the cuffs on myself and report to the police station, I'd do it.
